Where compliance breaks down

Deadlines Don't Wait.
Neither Should the Response.

The issues that bring a business to a CA firm are rarely convenient. Here's how each one gets handled.

Statutory Audit Deadlines

Every registered company needs a statutory audit regardless of turnover — missing the window creates its own compliance problem.

GST Notices

A mismatch, blocked input credit, or show-cause notice has a fixed response window — reading the deadline matters before anything else.

ROC Non-Compliance

Missed annual filings and lapsed director KYC accumulate quietly — until they surface as penalties or disqualification risk.

Tax Scrutiny

An income-tax notice or scrutiny assessment is easy to misread — the wrong response can matter more than a late one.

NRI With Indian Tax Obligations

Property, investments, or income still tied to India after moving abroad carry their own filing and repatriation rules — easy to fall behind on from a different time zone.

Overseas Books Falling Behind

Bookkeeping and reconciliation handled in-house or ad hoc rarely stays current once a business or accounting firm scales — someone has to own it on a recurring schedule.

FAQ

Does every company need a statutory audit?

Yes — every company registered under the Companies Act requires a statutory audit regardless of turnover. A tax audit under the Income Tax Act is separate, and applies once turnover or receipts cross the prescribed limit for your category of business.

What's the difference between GST returns and an income-tax return?

GST returns (monthly or quarterly) report sales, purchases, and tax collected under GST law. Your income-tax return is a separate, once-a-year filing on total income across all sources. Most active businesses file both, on different schedules.

I received a GST or income-tax notice — what should I do first?

Read the response deadline on the notice before anything else — most carry a fixed window. Don't reply until the underlying position (the return, transaction, or credit in question) has actually been reviewed; a rushed response can be harder to walk back than a late one.

What happens if ROC annual filings are missed?

Late filing carries an additional government fee that increases the longer it's outstanding, and prolonged non-compliance can put directors at risk of disqualification. It's worth resolving as soon as it's noticed rather than waiting for the next filing cycle.

What's a Virtual CFO, and does a small business actually need one?

It's ongoing financial oversight — monthly numbers, cash-flow visibility, board or lender reporting — without hiring a full-time CFO. It tends to matter once a business is raising funds, managing debt, or too busy to track its own numbers closely.

Do you work with businesses outside Vadodara?

Yes — most filings, returns, and advisory work happen remotely regardless of location. In-person visits are arranged for audits or meetings where they genuinely add value.
